Our Story
The Saree Story- Weaving magic with hands and hearts
ATYAA’s sarees are a work of love, literally. It means a gift. It all started with the myth we all have about cotton, specifically cotton sarees. Yes! we all love draping a cotton saree but always wished it hugged our bodies.
Childhood memories of rolling up into those soft cotton sarees of mum, and over the years the count of those soft sarees went down. Why? & so ATYAA was born.
ATYAA started crawling across India, meeting weavers in parts of North Karnataka, Tiruchirappalli, Kannur, Udupi, Assam, and Venkatagiri.
The weavers We celebrate weavers from nooks and corners of India, from villages where handloom weaving is a multi-generational profession. We work closely with these dedicated families, providing steady orders so they can continue practicing their craft and tradition.
The weaving After designing the pattern, weavers start by twisting threads on the |Magga|, the traditional spinning wheel. Next, they mount the warp threads on a loom and use shuttles to weave the weft threads, creating the saree base. Finally comes our saree, where tiny mirrors and beads are sewn on by hand to add that extra sparkle.
The result Each saree is a one-of-a-kind work of wearable art, combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.
So next time you drape that gorgeous ATYAA, remember the weaver who wove magic into each thread with patience, pride & style.
